Evening Seminar: Evaluating AI Systems
A single three-hour evening on the question most teams answer poorly: is the new version better? Covers building a small evaluation set, choosing meaningful metrics, pairwise comparison, model-as-grader pitfalls, statistical significance on small samples, and writing a report a sceptical colleague would accept.

AI Systems Development Track
A six-month part-time track for developers building complete systems. Moves from foundations through retrieval, tool-using agents, evaluation harnesses, serving and monitoring to a self-defined capstone reviewed by a practising engineer. Roughly 70% project time.

Real datasets, not cleaned toy sets
Every exercise uses data that arrived as a messy file, not a prepared teaching set. That is where most of the actual work happens.
Written feedback on every submission
Projects in the development track are reviewed line by line by a practising engineer. Comments explain reasoning, not just correctness.
Narrow scope, stated plainly
Each programme lists what it does not cover alongside what it does. You should know the boundaries before you sign up.
Part-time pacing for working people
Sessions are scheduled in the evenings. The development track runs six months at 12–15 hours a week, which is manageable alongside a full-time role for most engineers.
You own the repository
Work done during the track lives in a repository you control when the programme ends. It reflects decisions you made, not a scaffold we provided.
Small cohorts
The seminar caps at 30. The development track is smaller still. That keeps office hours practical and cohort channels useful rather than noisy.

Common questions
Who are the courses intended for?
People who already work in software and want to work more confidently with AI systems. The data course and seminar are accessible to engineers, analysts and product people who read code. The development track assumes professional software experience and comfortable Python.
Do I need a background in machine learning?
Not for the data course or the evaluation seminar. For the development track, the syllabus begins with foundations — vectorised computation and training loops written by hand — so a conceptual familiarity helps but formal ML credentials are not a requirement.
How are sessions delivered?
All sessions are live and online. Recordings are provided for all programmes. The development track includes fortnightly one-to-one office hours. There is no in-person component.
What is the enrolment process for the development track?

What does the fee cover?
The data course (RM 980) includes live sessions, recordings, three exercise sets with written feedback, a dataset documentation template and a cohort channel. The seminar (RM 480) includes the live session, recording, a reusable slide deck, an evaluation report template and a reading list. The development track (RM 4,650) includes twice-weekly live sessions, recordings, four reviewed projects, a capstone review, office hours, a cohort channel, compute credit allowance and a repository you own.
Is there a completion credential?
Participants who complete the development track receive a record of completion. We do not issue professional licences, accredited qualifications or employment-linked documents of any kind. The work you produce is the evidence of what you have learned.
